Who Is Don
Biernacki and What Does He Stand For?
His Family
Don
Biernacki and his family have lived in Oak Lawn for 10 years. He and
his wife, Win, have been married for 20 years and have two children,
Pat, a junior in high school and Meghan, a freshman. Don grew up in Chicago’s McKinley Park
neighborhood, attending grammar school at St. Maurice and high school
at Quigley South. In 1981, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in
Political Science from Loyola University.
His Profession
Don
is a Senior Vice President in charge of construction operations at LR
Development Company, a Chicago based developer of residential and
commercial real estate. He also serves as President of Quality First
Contracting Company, a union carpentry contractor affiliated with LR
Development. Don’s expertise in all areas of historic renovation,
adaptive reuse and residential construction has contributed to the
successful completion of several significant projects, including the
redevelopment of the national landmark district at Fort Sheridan in
Highland Park / Highwood, the redevelopment of the Des Plaines Town
Center, and the historic renovation of the Old Arcade in Cleveland,
Ohio, a national historic landmark.
Don
is a member of the National Association of Home Builders and the
National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
His Community
Don
is an active member of St. Gerald Parish where he served for four
years as President of the St. Gerald Athletic Club – an organization
dedicated to providing youth athletic programs for 1st
through 8th graders. During his term, Don worked with
other members of the Board of Directors to oversee the expansion of
the athletic program and was instrumental in establishing a
scholarship program for graduating 8th graders. Don has
also been a baseball coach for Oak Lawn Boys and Girls Baseball. As a
proponent of historic preservation in the community, he is a
contributing member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
His Commitment
As
Trustee, Don will be visible, available and responsive to the
residents of the 3rd District. He will be an
independent and vocal advocate for the 3rd District
while serving as an effective and integral member of the Village
Board. Don will actively seek and encourage input and ideas from 3rd
District residents so as to be able to represent them in an informed
and honest manner. Don will bring a vision for the future that
reflects and embraces the richness of Oak Lawn’s past, while promoting
and supporting balanced and responsible community development for the
future.
