More endorsements in suburban races
Tinley Park trustees
Thursday, March 27, 2003
Today the Southtown continues its endorsements in contests in the
April 1 suburban elections:
In a four-way race for village trustee in Oak Lawn's 3rd District,
we endorse Don Biernacki, a political independent and
newcomer to village politics.
Biernacki is a senior vice president for a large development firm,
where he is in charge of construction projects. Biernacki would
provide an independent, thoughtful voice on the village board to
replace the strident, divisive incumbent, Robert Streit. Streit is a
smart, talented individual but in 12 years on the village board has
spent too much time and energy on political machinations in and around
Oak Lawn and at the village high school.
In our view, Biernacki is the best alternative to Streit. His
professional expertise on development issues would be valuable as Oak
Lawn continues its efforts to revitalize its 95th Street business
district. He would offer a counterpoint to the Coalition, which
controls all other village offices, without the acrimony that has
marked the incumbent's political career.
